Data content

The insured person receives reimbursement from the National Health Insurance scheme for part of the fees charged by dentists in private practice for oral and dental examinations and treatments provided. The statistics on dentists' fees reimbursed from

the National Health Insurance scheme include

• Number of persons who have received reimbursement for dentists' fees (recipients)
• Number of reimbursed procedures performed by dentists
• Fees charged by dentists
• Calculated reimbursements, €
• Fee charged per procedure, €
• Calculated reimbursement per procedure, €. Reimbursements provided under National Health Insurance are calculated on the basis of the dentist's fee per treatment procedure.
• EB1HA, number/100 recipients (panoramic tomography of teeth and jaws or similar X-ray examination)
• EB1AA, number/100 recipients (dental X-ray)
• EB1SA, number/100 recipients (dental X-ray, bite-wing radiograph of the side area)

Variables and classifications

• Type of treatment. The types of treatment follow, as a rule, the classification published by the National Institute for Health and Welfare.
• Reference period. The year in which the reimbursements for dentists' fees which the statistics refer to have been paid out.
• Age. Age groups: In 5-year age groups and the age groups (0–17 years, 18–55 years, and over 55 years).
• Reference group. General and specialist dentists. The average data.

Updated annually in February.
