Data content
The statistics on new payments of disability benefits include
- the number of new payments of disability benefit
- the average amounts of disability benefit (amount of new payments of disability benefit in euro and per month divided by the number of new payments).
For statistical purposes, a payment counts as a new payment if the recipient did not receive a benefit of
the same benefit category during the month preceding the start of payment. During a single year, an individual
recipient may receive more than one new payment of benefit.
Variables and classifications
- Benefit category (Disability allowance for children under the age of 16, Disability allowance for persons
aged 16 or over, Care allowance for pensioners, Dietary grant)
- Main disease category. The main categories consist of three-digit diagnoses according to the ICD-10
classification. The basis for the classification is the main illness describing the reason for the disease
which affected the awarding of the benefit. The recipient is included in the statistics according to the main
disease category in which the diagnosis on the basis of which the benefit was awarded belongs.
- Time period (Year)
- Region
- Sex
- Age group (0–4 years, 5–9 years, …, 95–99 years, over 99 years)
- Type of benefit (Basic rate of allowance, Middle rate of allowance, Highest rate of allowance,
