Monthly and annual data on general housing allowances paid out.

For purposes of the general housing allowances scheme, a household consists of the permanent occupant(s) of a dwelling. Only persons living in Finland can be considered to be permanent members of a household. Households are represented by the principal occupant, his/her spouse or the person in whose name the lease or tenancy agreement is signed.

Starting with the data for 2015, the circumstances of the households are deduced on the basis of household income, with each household included in one category representing particular circumstances of life. In the data for 2007–2014 the households' circumstances have been deduced both on the basis of the claimant's income and that of his/her spouse, and a single household may be included in two different categories.

Variables and classifications

• Type of occupancy (Total, Rental dwellings total, - Regular rental dwelling, - Right-of-occupancy dwelling, - Part-ownership dwelling, - Subleased rental dwelling, Owner-occupied dwellings total, - Unit in a housing co-operative, - Single-family home, Data not available) Right-of-occupancy and part-ownership dwellings are classified as rental dwellings.
• Time period (Month, Year)
• Region
• Age group (of the household representative) as of the statistical reference month (0–4, 5–9, 10–14, …, 95–99, over 99 years)
• Type of household by family composition (Total, Persons living alone, Couples without children, Families with children, total, - Two-provider families, - Single-provider families, Others, Data not available)
• Household circumstances according to other benefits received by the applicant or spouse. The categorisation is not mutually exclusive in respect of the data for the years 2007–2014, so the individual categories cannot be added up. (Total, Unemployed households, Student households, Pensioner households, Employed households, Other households)

Statistical reference period

Annual data available since 2007. Monthly data available for the current and two preceding years.

Updating frequency

Updated monthly. Annual data updated in January.
