Data content
Special care allowance is intended to compensate for short-term loss of
income when the applicant participates in the care or rehabilitation of his/her
child aged under 16.
The statistics on special care allowance include
- Number of persons who have received special care allowance
- Number of children in respect of whom the recipient receives special care
allowance while participating in the care of the child.
- Amount in euro of special care allowances paid out
- Number of reimbursed days with special care allowance
- Ratio of special care allowances paid out per reimbursed day with special
care allowance
Variables and classifications
- Sex. Sex of the person who has received special care
allowance.
- Reference period.With this variable it is possible to choose the
reference period: month or year.
- Time period. The variable states the period during which the
special care allowances which the statistics refer to have been paid
out.
- Geographical focus.The smallest unit is the municipality, from
which larger units are formed. Data on special care allowance are included
in the statistics for a certain municipality for the persons who had the
municipality in question as their municipality of residence at the end of
the statistical reference period.
Statistical reference period
Annual data available since 2007. Monthly data available for the current and two preceding years.
Updating frequency
Updated monthly, annual data updated in January.

registers (total material) produced from the special care allowance benefits system.
