Recipients of disability pension from Kela and average amount of benefit (EUR/month/recipient).

Pension recipients include persons who during the statistical reference month have received pension benefits which refer to the statistical reference month. The average amount of benefit represents the arithmetic mean of benefit payments for and during the reference month. Retrospective payments for the period preceding the reference month are not included in the mean.

Variables and classifications

• Main disease category. The main categories consist of three-digit diagnoses according to the ICD-10 classification. The basis for the classification is the main illness describing the reason for the disease which affected the awarding of the benefit. The recipient is included in the statistics according to the main disease category in which the diagnosis on the basis of which the benefit was awarded belongs.
• Time period (End of year)
• Country of residence (Finland, Other country)
• Geographical focus
• Sex
• Age group (16–19 years, 20–24 years, …, 60–64 years, 65–69 years)
• Pension structure (Reduced pension, Full pension). The variable describes whether the earnings-related pensions have reduced the benefit.

Data available from 1997.

Annually updated in January.
