Data content

Recipients of pension benefit components from Kela and average amount of benefit component (EUR/month/recipient).

Included among the recipients are persons who have been paid some pension component for and during the relevant reference month. The average amount of benefit for each pension component represents the arithmetic mean of benefit payments for and during the reference month. Retrospective payments for the period preceding the reference month are not included in the mean.

Variables and classifications

• Pension benefit component
• Time period (End of year and month)
• Country of residence (Finland, Other country)
• Geographical focus
• Sex
• Age group (0–4 years, 5–9 years, …, 95–99 years, over 99 years)
• Specification of pension benefit component. The variable describes whether the earnings-related pensions have reduced the benefit component.

Statistical reference period

Yearly data available since 2008. Monthly data available for the current and two preceding years.

Updating frequency

Updated monthly. Annual data updated in January.

Data source

Kela – The Social Insurance Institution of Finland. Statistical registers (total material) produced from the pension benefits processing system.
