Data content

This report shows the number of persons in receipt of unemployment benefit from Kela at the end of the month and the average amount of benefit paid out (EUR/day).

Recipients at the end of the month include persons in receipt of unemployment benefit with a non-zero value in EUR which is dated to the last working day of the month and paid out sometime during the following three months. For example, this would include persons whose unemployment benefit is dated to the last day of December and is paid out by the end of March the following year.

The report covers all of the benefits provided by Kela in respect of unemployment.

Benefits are divided into main categories according to the basis of eligibility, i.e., into unemployment benefits and benefits paid during participation in employment promoting service. The latter are classified further into specific types of employment promoting service.

Benefits are divided into main categories according to the type of compensation, i.e. full or reduced benefit. Additionally, reduced benefits are classified according to the reason for the reduction.

Important to note: Payments of reduced benefit may be included under several subcategories of reduced benefit, as there may be several reasons for a reduction in benefit. Therefore, the subcategories of recipients of reduced benefit cannot be added up.

Statistical reference period

End-of-year data available since 2003. Monthly data available for the current and two preceding years.

Updating frequency

Updated monthly, with data being collected about four months retrospectively. End-of-year data updated in April.
