Data content

This report shows the number of persons in receipt of the key benefits provided by Kela in respect of unemployment, the amount of benefits paid out, and the number of reimbursed days during the statistical reference period analysed by the basis of eligibility. Euros/day has been calculated by dividing the amount of benefits paid out with the number of reimbursed days.

The report covers basic unemployment allowances and labour market subsidies. Benefits provided in respect of unemployment include the labour market subsidy, the integration allowance and the combination subsidy. Combination subsidies paid by Kela were discontinued in 2007 and were replaced by the wage subsidy provided by the labour authorities.

Benefits are divided into main categories according to the basis of eligibility, i.e., into unemployment benefits and benefits paid during participation in employment promoting service. The latter are classified further into specific types of employment promoting service. The category 'Data not available' includes repayments of benefit whose original basis of eligibility is not known.

Important to note: Information on the basic unemployment allowance preceding 2010 is not reported. The year 2010 marks the point at which the basic unemployment allowance, similarly to the labour market subsidy and the integration allowance, became payable during participation in employment promoting service.

Statistical reference period

Annual data available since 2000. Monthly data available for the current and two preceding years. Data on the basic unemployment allowance available from 2010.

Updated monthly. Annual data updated in February.
